Lot 21 : Sold for £480 hammer

Estimate £300-£500

A Cooksons patent lock-stitch sewing machine, with hand crank operation, in stained pine carrying case, height 26cm. Frederick Cookson spent countless hours making this unique sewing machine to challenge an already competitive market. Unfortunately, his business failed and the company folded shortly after 1890. Fewer than five hundred were ever produced against a serial number range of three hundred to eight hundred.
