A mid 19th Century Chinese Canton carved tortoiseshell circular box and cover, the cover carved in deep relief with a busy village scene depicting figures, some seated beneath the shade of prunus and pine trees and surrounded by pagodas, a boat to the foreground, all within a foliate border, the base carved in shallow relief with a landscape scene of figures, goats, prunus and trees, the sides further carved with a landscape scene and flower decoration, two character mark to centre of lid, diameter 11cm x depth 2.6cm, S/D.
