A Victorian hallmarked silver inkstand of rectangular outline with pierced gallery and sectional divider containing two cut glass wells with hinged covers, shield cartouche engraved 'Dr Robertson from Lord and Lady James Murray Nov. 1858,' the whole on four scroll feet, London 1856 Charles Thomas Fox & George Fox. Provenance: Formerly the property of Dr Andrew Robertson (1799 - 1881) Commissioner to Queen Victoria, the Prince Consort and the Prince of Wales at the Balmoral and Abergeldie and thence by descent through the family.
