A Chinese lacquered, gilded and painted bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni, meditating in the dhyanasana pose, the left hand in upturned bhumisparsha mudra gesture, the right in dhyana mudra, the gown draped over the left shoulder decorated with finely painted foliate and floral decoration against a blue and a red ground and character mark to the back, feet in varajna position with further painted draped folds falling to the floor, the serene meditative face with downcast eyes and urna to the forehead, large ushnisha with flattened curls and central oval jewel, height 49cm
