A 19th Century carved treen oval portrait miniature depicting Shakespeare in high relief, the reverse carved with a fruiting acorn leaf garland, the whole reputedly carved from the mulberry tree said to have been planted by Shakespeare in the grounds of New Place, to an 18ct mount with beaded border and pendant loop, stamped to the inside 18 with possible makers mark, length 5cm x width 4cm.. Notes: The Mulberry tree was destroyed in 1756 and the remains sold to carpenters such as Thomas Sharp, William Hurdis Harborne and William Browne who created Shakespeare souvenirs
