Just in the Nick of time for Christmas

Nick Davies (Director and jewellery, silver and watch specialist) talks us through the upcoming Christmas auction, that will take place on Saturday 7th December.

Online catalogue will be available on Friday 22nd November

Nick, tell us about the auction?

The sale includes over 800 lots of fine Jewellery, watches, silver, bijouterie, coins.  Our prices range from £30-£20,000 so there is certainly something for everybody.  Everyone is welcome to all our auctions, hence we like to include lots that have a wide range of value, so everyone can have a go at buying something.  Our annual Christmas auction is one of the highlights of the year, this year it certainly will not disappoint.

How many lots of watches do you have in the auction?

There are 100 lots of watches included in this auction.  I have seen a real influx of people bringing watches in to the saleroom this year, from all over the country.  Maybe vendors and buyers are starting to realise the difference between buying a watch from retail as oppose to auction, and the stark difference in value.  The watches date from 1960s to present day, and I have loved hearing the stories behind these watches and how they have been treasured by family’s over the years. We have Rolex, Brietling, Cartier, Omega, Jaeger LeCoultre, Tag Heuer.

What kind of silver items do you have in the auction?

We have Antique silver from the 17th Century to the mid 20th Century, my favourite lots are lots 174 and 175, a Robert Welch teapot and coffee pot from 1973, they are just the epitome of classic design from one of our finest silversmiths, they even come with their original receipts!

………and the Jewellery?

We have 300 lots of jewellery in this auction, with such a vast price range.  Diamonds, coloured stones and design pieces are all included. So if you are looking to buy a Christmas present, pop the question or just treat yourself this is the auction for you.

We have some wonderful diamond jewellery, including an 18ct hallmarked 4.60ct diamond solitaire, colour M/N, clarity SI1 with an estimate of £16,000 - £18,000. A stunning platinum and diamond set bracelet with an estimate of £10,000-£12,000, lots of diamond solitaires, tennis bracelets, necklaces etc.  Trust me If you like diamonds you will be very happy.
