Lot 893: Sold for £65 hammer

Estimate £50-£80

A Georgian silk stumpwork and needlework embroidery, the buff silk ground worked in various stitches showing a young girl in a field with straw and gold coloured threads, she with hand painted face and body, retains original verre eglomise frame, image 23cm x 17cm, framed 35cm x 30.5cm.

Condition report
There is some discolouration to the silk ground through fox staining and a smudge stain to the left of her face. There are no tears to the silk ground but there is a small 4mm lin, diagonally below the smudge mark that looks like a piece of cotton or a very small pull. The colours are strong, as is the detail to the face. The frame shows its age with scuffs to the very outer edge.
