20th Century Design

We hold two 20th Century Decades of Design sales a year and would consider this our flagship auction. Each encompasses around 1,000 lots of specialist items carefully selected by renowned expert, Will Farmer. 20th Century Design encapsulates anything and everything produced in the last century, including ceramics, glass, artwork, furniture, jewellery, silver and any object considered a design classic. At Fieldings we also hold the world record for highest price paid in the open market for an Alessandro Pianon Murano "Pulcini" Bird Sculpture, selling in May 2019 for £8,100. Read more

Will’s most memorable find – A Pulcini glass bird, circa 1964 designed by Alessandro Pianon for Vistosi, setting the record for highest price ever paid through auction for one of these little birds at £8,100.

Will’s dream find – a 1950s Piero Fornasetti trumeau architettura cabinet. He has a great passion for Fornasetti furniture as very little either survived or comes to the open market.

Lucie Rie - A 1980s footed bowl with golden manganese glaze, sold £10,800
