Lot 1262: Sold for £160 hammer

Estimate £70-£90

A pair of 18th Century relief moulded portrait panels in the manner of Wedgwood depicting King George III and Queen Charlotte in white mounted to a black basalt ground, unmarked, each depth 11cm, S/D, together with a similar period glass profile portrait of a gentleman on reverse painted black glass and a Wedgwood Jasper Ware plaque decorated with a Cherub. (4)

Condition report
The Queen Charlotte plaque is very badly broken. The King George plaque has a hairline, scuffs and marks within and on the surface of the white. Both frames are somewhat tired. The portrait of the gentleman has nibble chipping and the reverse painted example has blistering between the glass and the paintwork. The Jasperware plaque is rather grubby and has fleabite losses. It has not been removed from the frame so the edges are unexamined.
