Lot 1824: Estimate £500-£800

A North American Indian catlinite (pipestone) ceremonial or peace pipe bowl of T-form, probably Plains, possibly Sioux, with inlaid bands of lead decorative detail, length 22cm and height 10.5cm, S/D. <p> Provenance - Consigned to sale from a private collection of a gentleman who acquired the pipe circa 1970, when travelling across the United States.

Condition report
There is a small section of loss to the lead detail - measures approx 1mm x 2mm, towards the mouth piece end of the pipe. Some minor dents, scuffs and scratches commensurate with use.
