Lot 746: Sold for £65 hammer

Estimate £80-£120

An early 20th Century Corinthian column form oil lamp, the stepped brass base rising to a hobnail cut crystal column and a diamond and printie cut reservoir, beneath an acid etched glass shade, height to top of chimney 93cm (67cm to the top of the gallery), S/D.

Condition report
The lamp has at some point been drilled to accomodate an electric cable - there is a drill hole to the base and also through the capital of the column. However, the lamp has more recently been used conventionally and the reservoir still retains some paraffin which has stained the interior an amber colour. The reservoir does unscrew from the column. There are some small nibbles around the rim and foot rim of the acid etched shade.
