Lot 1157: Sold for £320 hammer

Estimate £400-£500

A late 18th to early 19th Century oak longcase clock with later associated 12 inch silvered dial with engraved centre with 'penny' moon phase and date aperture, pierced corner spandrels, signed Jo. Batty, Halifax, enclosed by a pillared hood over a short trunk door and canted plinth base, height 212cm, S/D

Condition report
The case and movement are probably matched and there are insert cheeks beneath the seat board. The workings have been cleaned and the case has been cleaned as well. The swan neck pediment to the hood is a later addition, as has the finial. The corner spandrels and chapter ring have been later added to the dial. Some splits to the sides of the hood and to the base. A single weight and pendulum are present. The clock has not been seen running and is sold 'as seen'.
