A 17th Century bronze mortar, probably London Whitechapel Foundry, of typical flared form with two bands of decoration comprising a shell, a leaf and a 'whiplash' scroll to the waist and upper rim, on a moulded spreading foot, and mounted on a later wooden base, unmarked, with later pestle, height 13cm, diameter 18cm.

Condition report
Good overall patination, small knocks and losses to the edges throughout, indicative of age.
