Lot 1035: Sold for £230 hammer

Estimate £200-£300

A George III mahogany chest on chest, with Greek key cornice and blind fret frieze above an arrangement of two short and six long graduated cock-beaded drawers, with brass drop handles, raised to bracket feet, height 163cm, width 119cm and depth 58.5cm, S/D.

Condition report
The drawers are oak-lined. The brass handles are later replacements. There are side splits to both sides of the upper and lower sections. Repairs to the bracket feet. The Greek key border to the cornice is a later addition and there are some small sections of this border that are missing. There is a chip / dent to the frieze above the top drawer of the base section, where it would appear, the drawer lock has been forced at some point. There are no keys.
