Lot 997: Sold for £90 hammer

A late 19th Century violin, with spruce sound board and two-piece maple back, bearing spurious paper label 'Laurentius Guadagnini, fecit placentiae anno 1746', length of back including the button 37.3cm and overall length 59.6cm, complete with an unnamed bow and later fitted hard case, some damage and repair. NB - 2018 Ivory Act application submission reference 3HNN1QDH Subject to CITES regulations and due to the ivory content of the bow, this lot will require a re-export permit if shipped outside the mainland UK.

Condition report
There have been some glued repairs around the edges of the soundboard. Scuffs, scratches and minor dents to the same. There is a 13cm hairline crack below each of the sound holes. There are a few filled woodworm flight holes. Later replaced bridge. Some scuffs and minor dents to the back. Bow - 2018 Ivory Act licence in place :- reference 3HNN1QDH Un-named. Abalone shell inlay to the frog. There is some tape wrapped around the grip.
