A German self-portrait porcelain statuette of Anna Pavlova, the white porcelain figure modelled as the ballerina herself dancing on point with her left leg raised and both arms behind, initialled in the maquette, underglaze blue factory mark, height 25cm, within fitted box for retailer Prince Vladimir Galitzine, 202 Berkley Street, London W1, circa 1920, together with a black and white photograph and a biography of Pavlova by V Dandre, possibly from the Earl of Spencer's private library, signed Spencer to inside cover, S/D. Notes: This figure was created by Pavlova herself under the supervision of German sculptor Professor Lederer and fired in Thuringia, Germany. Provenance: From the private estate of Dame Alicia Markova, ballerina and friend of Pavlova's, and thence by descent. In later life Alicia became a personal friend of Princess Diana.
