A set of late 19th Century Staunton chess-men in red stained and natural ivory, contained within a Jaques Pierre Carton papier mache box, the white king stamped 'Jaques, London' and is 9cm in height, condition of chessmen generally good with just some light rubbing to the red stained finish in places, the castellated casket bearing a red paper label to the base 'The Staunton Chess-Men, Registered No. 58, 607, 5 & 6 Vict. cap 100, Ivory, H. Staunton, Jaques, London', some damage, repair and losses to the box, dimensions height 10.5cm, width 21cm and depth 15cm.
