Lot 1299: Sold for £100 hammer

Estimate £70-£100

A set of six early 20th Century James Shoolbred & Co Carolean style walnut and simulated walnut dining chairs, comprising two carvers and four standard chairs, each with a cane back over machine woven drop-in tapestry seat pads, turned legs and stretchers, bearing labels, S/D. (6)

Condition report
Amended condition report - the frames of the carver chairs are walnut, but the frames of the standard chairs are simulated walnut (painted beech). The frames to all of the chairs have at some point been re-polished, but this has started to scuff and wear away resulting in the frames being a bit scruffy. The seats have been re-upholstered in a machine woven tapestry fabric. There is some wear to the cane work backs in places. Five of the chairs bear a James Shoolbred & Co ivorine trade label.
