Lot 781: Sold for £110 hammer

Estimate £80-£120

A World War One trench art copper tobacco or snuff box in the form of an officer's cap with brass chin strap and peak and Royal Marines badge, height 4cm and width 8cm, S/D, together with a 1914 Christmas tin, width 13cm. (2)

Condition report
There is a small drill hole to the rear rim of the cap.The rivets that attach the 'chin strap' to the cap are odd - one is steel and the other brass, but this may be part of its original construction. Some evidence of solder around the peak just beneath the line of the chin strap. The lid fits snuggly and the seams are good. The lid fits snuggly on the Christmas tin.
