A Japanese hardwood and Shibayama inlaid shodana, Meiji period (1868-1912), the pierced dragon pediment above an arrangement of shibyama lacquered panels and doors, applied with mother of pearl before gilt maki-e lacquer, detailed with birds perched amidst flowers and in flight and flowering koros over a cupboard enclosed by a further pair of doors decorated with crane, the shelves and panels bordered by detailed carved surrounds, on a carved pierced and scroll base, height 237cm x depth 46cm x width 151cm.

The top left panel has small areas of flower loss The top right panel has small area of loss The bottom left panel has bull rush loss Centre top right panel has a willow leaf loss Old stress crack to left leg and some old worm holes noted to the frames of the back panels.
