Lot 157: Sold for £1,050 hammer

Estimate £150-£200

A large 19th Century Chamberlains Worcester shaped tray decorated with a hand painted scene of Hyde Park corner with figures promenading and in horse and carriages, the oval cartouche in a gilt frame with raised palmette, all to a cornflower blue ground with a gilt repeat pattern to the border edge, painted mark and titled verso, length 58cm, restored.

Condition report
The back has discoloured extensively so it would suggest extensive restoration and yet from the front there is little suggestion that it has been heavily rebuilt. There is some discolouration to the gilding and scuff marks, which could be from firing or later restoration. There are losses and grazes to the rim edge.
