Lot 115: Sold for £120 hammer

Estimate £80-£120

A George III great wax seal, appears to be from the king to Lord Hawkesbury for a licence to supply a hospital in Lancaster, dated September 7th 1786, the seal depicts him on horse back and the reverse with throne room, 16cm x 15cm, old damages.

Condition report
The seal is cracked and re-glued in part but not recent, with some loss to the edges, the indenture is in good order. The writing is not clear but based on research seems to refer to Lord Hawkesbury who, on the day before the document was signed, became the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster.
