Lot 55: Sold for £6,300 hammer

An 18th Century drinking glass circa 1750, the round funnel bowl engraved with a head and shoulders portrait of Prince Charles Edward Stuart in Highland dress with the sash of the Garter, within an oval line panel inscribed AUDENTIOR IBO, the reverse with Jacobite style rose, bud, thistle and star above double knopped, multi spiral air twist stem, raised to a conical foot, height 16.5cm. Provenance - Sir Hector Monro, M.P.,J.P.,D.L Sold at Sotheby's 24th November 1986, lot 37.

Condition report
The glass is all in good order and free from damage or repair. Under a glass there is a very slight 'crease' in the glass on the edge of the foot rim, occouring in manufacture. No restoration and only age related wear to the base.
