Edward Barnsley - A pair of Indian rosewood and sycamore line inlaid elbow or carver chairs, with curved bar backs above green checked hopsack style fabric upholstered drop-in seat pads over tapered legs, designed by Edward Barnsley and made in his workshops by senior assistant and foreman Herbert Upton, assisted by Hugh Routh, each stamped Barnsley to the seat rail, complete with purchase receipt dated January 1976, height of backs 87cm, width across the arms 64cm and seat height 44cm, S/D (2)

Provenance - Purchased by the present owner's father directly from Edward Barnsley.

These chairs are offered for sale as works of art. They may not comply with the Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) Safety Regulations 1988 and for this reason should not be used in a private dwelling.

Condition report
There is a hairline crack, approximately 5cm in length that runs across the front corner of the seat rail of one of the chairs. The colour of the same chair is slightly more faded than the other, perhaps due to sunlight exposure. Upholstery to both chairs is good.
