An early 19th Century tortoiseshell and ivory line inlaid tea caddy of octagonal form, the hinged pagoda shaped top with turned ball shaped finial, height 14cm, width 11cm and depth 7.5cm, some later repairs, S/D. NB - 2018 Ivory Act application submission reference D87XU6DK. Subject to CITES regulations and due to the tortoiseshell and ivory content of the tea caddy, this lot will require a re-export permit if shipped outside the mainland UK.

Condition report
There is a replacement triangular panel of tortoiseshell veneer to the rear of the hinged cover. The ball finial appears to be a later replacement. A small 3cm x 1cm section of rectangular tortoiseshell veneer appears to have been replaced to the rear edge of the cover. Some sections of ivory stringing are missing. One of the tortoiseshell veneer side panels has lifted / rippled slightly. There is a section of ivory banding missing from the inside of the cover. The velvet lining inside the cover may be later. There is a minor chip and a filled repair to the lift off internal cover. There is no key.
