A William IV prie dieu or prayer chair, the later upholstered purple velvet back over exposed rosewood scroll arms and turned front legs with applied brass castors, retains remnants of paper label to the frame for R. Grieves upholsterer, the seat in need of upholstery, height of back 101cm, width 52cm and seat height 39cm, S/D.
Condition report
The seat is in need of upholstery. The back of the chair has been later upholstered in purple velvet, but the rear of the chair is hessian covered. There is an old split and screw repair to the left hand capital / arm rest. Splits to the front legs. Some veneer losses to the rear legs.
