Lot 1047: Sold for £260 hammer

Estimate £150-£180

A late Regency period rosewood veneered teapoy of sarcophagus form, the hinged lid opening to reveal an interior with four canisters and two apertures for mixing bowls, complete with a pair of glass mixing bowls with scalloped edges and strawberry diamond cut bodies over capstan pedestals and radial star cut bases, all raised to a tapered support and quatrefoil base with four reeded outswept legs with applied brass lions paw feet and castors, height 75cm, width across the base 42cm and depth 36cm, slight damage and some later replacements.

Condition report
There is no key. The mixing bowls may have been later replaced, and they do not fit particularly snuggly in the apertures, but they date from around 1820 and so are of the same period as the teapoy itself. There are chips around the edges of the scalloped rims of the bowls. Otherwise just some light scratches commensurate with age and use.
