A Victorian silver snuff box of rectangular form by Nathaniel Mills, engraved with acanthus scrolls and flower heads and with gilded interior engraved with the inscription 'He conquers who is cautious', Birmingham 1854, height 2cm, width 10cm and depth 4.5cm, with worn later presentation inscription to the central cartouche, together with a smaller William IV silver snuff box with foliate thumb piece to the hinged lid and with a gilded interior, Birmingham 1834, Edward Smith, width 5cm. Condition report
The Nathaniel Mills box is worn to the exterior and it is not possible to read the later inscription to the lid, although the date of August 1903 an be made out. Engraving and marks are clear to the interior. Hinge operates and lid closes snuggly. There is a small dent to the front right hand corner. Edward Smith box - clean and tidy example. There is a monogram engraved to the cartouche on the lid.
