Lot 3: Sold for £1,000 hammer

Estimate £1,000-£1,500

A large late 19th Century Royal Worcester Persian blush ivory twin handled vase and spire cover decorated with cartouche panels of tonal gilt birds amidst enamel and gilt foliage with enamel and gilt foliate panels to the neck, the whole in matt black with a platinum lustre repeat pattern, the gold base with green printed mark with date letter for circa 1882, height 40cm.

Condition report
Lid - there is some rubbing to the gilding most noticeably to the very tip of the spire and to the collar that sits within the vase (and is therefore not visible). There is a darker band to the very top of the shaped section which has some rubbing. Vase - there is some very minor rubbing to the gilding, commensurate with light handling. There is some rubbing to the very flat rim of the neck where the lid sits. There are some very minor surface marks visible to the ivory ground cartouche which would likely wash away (if so desired).
