A 19th Century motto jug, transfer decorated with two printed verse 'The wisest of people you'll find in the nation, are those who when drinking, drink in moderation; For while a glass brightens their wit and their sense, they still have an eye to pounds, shillings and pence' and to the reverse 'Tis a folly to eat or drink to excess all must own, 'tis the cause very often why discord is sown; Take enough to support you in labour and mind, pay your way through the world to your friends behave kind', the border edge with grapes and vines with barrels of port and the centre, beneath the spout named Richard Hastilow, replaced metal handle, height 17.5cm
