An early 20th Century shagreen cased travelling double inkwell in the manner of John Paul Cooper, formed as a domed casket with gilt metal pierced strap work, opening to reveal two octagonal glass inkwells etched with a rose to the underside and white metal domed covers, all contained within a red velvet lined cushioned interior, the interior rim engraved 'Rosebery from C Leconfield, May 7, 1908', length 6.7cm x height 3.5cm. C. Leconfield, (Charles Henry Wyndham) was the 3rd Baron of Leconfield. His mother, Lady Leconfield, (Constance Evelyn Primrose) was the sister of Prime Minister Archibald Primrose, 5th Earl of Rosebery.
