A 1950s English Electric Canberra aircraft ejector seat, Martin patent type 2CB KK2 metal framed fitted with parachutes, holding straps and retaining most fittings, with later converted star-shaped base with applied swivel castors, height 152cm With certificate stating Free from explosives Royal Air Force Cosford ATC SQN, signed and dated 11th November 1999 The Canberra was built as a tactical Nuclear strike aircraft and flew at an altitude higher than any other aircraft during this period setting a world record of 70,310ft in 1957. It had the ability to evade early jet interceptors and had a high performance over piston engine bombers of the time.
