Olive F. Openshaw - A 1930s Art Deco gouache design entitled 'Design for a Wool Rug' with a stylised fish against an abstract ground, titled to the mount, image 30cm x 45cm After studying at the Manchester Municipal School of Art in the 1920s, Openshaw is known for illustrating various children's books from the 1930s to 1950s including Mary Mouse by Enid Blyton and stories by Cynthia, Lady Asquith. She also re-illustrated Jean de Brunhoff's Babar series which had been rewritten by Enid Blyton.
