SARAH BIFFIN (1784-1850) - Portrait of a Lady wearing a bonnet and shawl, a watercolour miniature on ivory, oval, framed 7cm x 6cm, frame size 14cm x 12cm.
Sarah Biffin was born without arms or legs however taught herself to paint by holding brushes in her mouth, her talent earned her celebrity status and she could boast royal patronage. The sitter is said to be a member of the Whitfield family, safe makers from Birmingham.

Watercolour is appears to be very faded as colours are muted. Some loss of detail. Presented papier mache frame with oak leaf suspension loop
