A Maasai hide shield, Kenya, of oval form with stitched outer border and with a wooden rib handle, remnants of pigment decoration, height 124cm, S/D.
Condition report
Nice patination to the grip handle of the central wooden rib. There are two old slits to the shield that have been repaired with hide stitching. The shield has warped slightly and the pigment decoration to the face of the shield has faded, although the outlines of this detail can be made out. Consigned from a private collection.
