Robert Wallace Martin - Martin Brothers - A stoneware sculptural bird jar and associated cover, 1901 and 1903, modelled in relief as a grotesque smiling characterful figure, white, blue and green brown glazed, incised marks 5-12-1903, RW Martin & Bros, London Southall, and 5-1901, Martin Bros, London & Southall, on wooden base, height 21.5cm.
Provenance: Waddingtons, 6th December 2017, lot 28; Lunds Auctioneers, Victoria.

Condition report
Head - There is a small chip to the very tip of the beak to the underside which runs to two fine hairlines up to the 'nostrils' on the beak. Base - The bird has been broken off at the 'ankles' and re-glued in place. There is some loss of material to to one leg and to the tail feathers.
