Charles Catteau - Boch Freres Keramis - A 1920s stoneware vase of ovoid form with a squat collar neck decorated with painted birds perched on foliage in tones of blue with mottled ochre detailing, printed Keramis Made in Belgium mark alongside printed script signature mark, incised Gres Keramis and impressed 966, height 25cm.
Condition report
There is a 1cm long patch of glaze missing to the neck rim where the white body beneath shows, this is not damage is a factory occurrence. There is all over light crazing, which may actually be a craquelure glaze effect as opposed crazing as it appears under the glaze. Otherwise in good order.
Privately consigned, was purchased at Newark in the 1960s.
