Lot 21: Sold for £200 hammer

Estimate £200-£300

A late bronze age or early iron age socketed spear head, circa 1150-600 BC, in two moulded sections, copper alloy and single loop, length 139.6mm.

PAS No SWOR-FD8D64

NB - The shape of the blade strongly resembles the Wilburton phase (1150-750 BC) from Wormhill and Derbyshire.

Condition report
The patination is damaged on both edges of the blade and there are slight areas that retain about 5.4mm wide of the centre of the spear. The casting seams above the shoulder of the blade appear to have been trimmed as they are not completely flush with the side of the socket.
