Lot 1320: Sold for £160 hammer

Estimate £150-£200

An 18th Century and later oak and mahogany cross-banded longcase clock with an eight-day movement striking on a bell, the hood with reeded pillars flanking the 12 inch brass dial with date aperture and a silvered chapter ring signed 'Thomas Haden, Dudley', over a later carved trunk door and base, height 200cm, S/D

Condition report
Amended condition report - The movement may be married to the dial. These also appear to have been married to the case, as there is an insert to the cheek of the case. The dial has been cleaned and a lacquered coating applied. The date aperture has had red highlights later painted to it. A pair of weights, pendulum and winder are present. As mentioned, the trunk door and the base appear to have been later carved, probably late 19th Century. There is some fading to the front and side of the case. Some woodworm flight holes are evident to the top of the right hand side of the case.
