An 18th/19th Century gilt-bronze figure of Buddha Vajrasana, Tibetan or Nepalese, wearing the sanghati robe and seated in vajrasana, with his right hand in the bhumisparsa mudra, his left open hand gently resting on his foot, the serene expression on his face transfixed in meditation at the point of enlightenment, the rich brown metal body covered with remnants of gilt, raised on a double lotus waisted base, and further standing on a hexagonal plinth, height 52cm.

Provenance:
Part of private London collection, accumulated over the last 50 years and thence by descent.

Condition report
- Natural loss and wear to the gilt throughout, causing unevenness to the gilt throughout, as would be expected from a Buddha of this date. - Weighted to the interior - Small area of infilling to the buddha's head and this area is ungilded. - Structural condition is fine, no splits/cracks or restoration. - Unevenness to the bronze base.
