An 18th/19th Century Tibetan gilt bronze/copper alloy Densatil style repousse plaque of a snow lion, the square plaque with inset fan shaped panel, with relief depiction of the snarling mythical beast, (protector of Buddha, symbolizes fearlessness and victory over all obstacles), later mounted on a perspex stand, 29.5cm x 29cm.
Provenance:
Part of private London collection, accumulated over the last 50 years and thence by descent.
Condition report
- Eight small holes at the edges of the plaque, where it has previously been attached.
- Two splits to the lower edge, each approx. 3cm in length.
- Each of the four edges, has small losses to the edges.
- Scratching to the entire plaque.
- The lion's left foot has some damage and a few small holes.
- Small holes visible to the eye area.
