Lot 1062: Sold for £340 hammer

Estimate £400-£600

An 18th Century and later oak longcase clock with an eight-day movement striking on a bell, the hood with a swan neck pediment over the case with all over foliate carved detail, the 10 inch brass dial with later applied corner spandrels and silvered chapter ring signed 'John Michell, Chardstock Fecit', height 232cm, S/D.

Condition report
The case has been later carved. The dial and movement appear to have been married to the case as additional cheeks have been added to the seat board to allow it to fit the case. Alterations to the dial as mentioned and the bell is also later. A pair of weights and a pendulum are present. Split to the trunk door and the base.
