Lot 174: Estimate £500-£800
An early 20th Century enamel advertising sign '57, Heinz Tomato Fish Sauce', white lettering on a green gherkin on a red coloured ground, height 123cm and width 296cm, S/D. Provenance - This sign was discovered as a 'barn find' in the local Wyre Forest area.
Condition report
Corrosion and loss of enamel all over. The sign is also holed to the left of centre of the gherkin. The top left hand corner of the sign has been bent / folded back - this section is still present but has lost the enamel. There has been no later over-painting or restoration. This sign had been in used as a panel on the inside of a wall of a barn.
Consigned to auction sale together with several other signs from the same source - A genuine local 'barn find'.
