A set of eleven Wilkinson toby (or character) jugs modelled as World War One Allied War Leaders, designed by Sir Francis Carruthers Gould (1844-1925), comprising Rt. Hon. David Lloyd George holding a shell inscribed Shell Out, Admiral Jellicoe holding a jug inscribed Hell Fire Jack, Lord French holding a foaming jug inscribed French Pour les Francais, Field Marshal Sir Douglas Haig seated on a tank with painted Push and Go, Admiral Beatty holding a shell inscribed Dreadnaught, President Woodrow Wilson holding a bi-plane with painted Welcome! Uncle Sam, Marshall Foch with foaming champagne bottle, General Botha with jug captioned Loyalty, Earl Kitchener with jug inscribed Bitter For Kaiser, Field Marshall Joffre with a shell inscribed Ce Que J'offre and King George V seated with a globe in his lap, all with printed Wilkinson mark, printed signature and marked Reserved to Soane & Smith 462 Oxford St, London W.

Condition report
Consigned from a deceased estate. - All in good order with minor visible crazing to undecorated white areas of the body. The set are dusty and require a gentle clean. In addition please note the further specific conditions on the following characters - No 1 - Admiral Beatty - There is some minor enamel loss to the wording Dread Nought on the missile No 2 - President Wilson - There is some minor enamel loss to his tricorn hat No 3 - Marshall Foch - There is some enamel loss to the bottle of alcohol by his feet, particularly on the reverse of the bottle. All very dusty. All have crazing of varying levels and some minor scuffs to the gilding and small paint flakes, all commensurate with age. The paintwork to Dreadnaught of Admiral Beatty is oxidised as is the Bitter for the Kaiser.
