George Cruickshank - Bank restriction satirical note, signed J Ketch, framed and laid down, labeled on verso. ILLUSTRATED Designed by the satirical cartoonist George Cruickshank (1792-1878). The act of forgery or even the use of such a banknote was punishable by death, Cruickshank claimed to have sketched the note in ten minutes after seeing a woman hanged for passing a forged note, features on the note include a terrible Britannia devouring an infant, gibet, skulls and ships for transportation.
