CIRCLE OF MICHIEL JANSZ. VAN MIEREVELT - A pair of 17th Century Dutch oil on panel portraits of noblemen, probably members of the House of Orange-Nassu both in court dress with ruff collar and tunics, each wearing an orange sash, both within ornate mid 18th Century carton-pierre, (papier moulee) frames with foliate carved and gilded scroll detail, both unsigned, 60.5cm x 47.5cm. Provenance - Property of a Gentleman - These were probably acquired for Ham Court, Worcestershire, circa 1772, for the Martin Family. Displayed at Ham Court and owned by descent to an E. Bromley-Martin until sold at Christies, London on 28th March 1924, offered as lots 150 & 151, purchased back by the family, thence by descent when re-offered for sale by Sothebys, London, 18th October 1995, Old Master Paintings. Private collection since.
