Petri Bellonii Cenomani - De aquatilibus,Libri duo, Carolum Stephanum, Typographum Regium, vellum (117mm x 177mm), fragment of original title on spine, woodcuts of species of fish, mammals and crustaceans, 448 pages, Paris 1553. Belon Pierre (Petri Bellonii) a renaissance scientist (1517-1564), based his work on true life observations. He was assassinated at the age of 47 whilst walking in the Bolougne area, he was possibly a favourite of King Henry II and Charles IX of France.
