Louis John Rhead - Possibly Wedgwood - A large terracotta clay charger or wall plaque circa 1878 of shallow circular section hand enameled with an image of a female nude hand painting a large vessel in the Iznik taste to an interior setting, all within a persian inspired foliate scroll border with gilded highlights, signed within the decoration, unmarked to the reverse, measures 57cm. ILLUSTRATED Ref - This plaque is referenced in Collecting Rhead Pottery by Bernard Bumpus. It is understood to have been created by Louis Rhead in 1878 and exhibited at the Exposition Universelle in Paris
