A pair of late 18th Century Chelsea (Aesop's) Fable candlesticks based upon the engravings by Francis Barlow, illustrated in the 1666 edition, published in London, the first modelled on 'The Goat in the Well' with goat's head protruding from the well shaft and the fox perched on the edge, fable LX, the second modelled on 'Fox in the Well' with the fox protruding from a lidded shaft with the wolf above, fable VIII, both with an encrusted bocage and single sconce, both with gold anchor marks, circa 1758 - 1769, height 27.5cm, S/D
