An Edwardian mahogany and satinwood crossbanded Carlton House desk by Maple & Co Limited, the swept brass gallery above a drawers and fitted cupboard compartments over a leather inset slide above a long frieze drawer flanked by four small drawers on square tapering legs terminating in spade feet, stamped, height 104cm x depth 66cm x width 136cm, S/D.
Condition report
Amended condition report - Has faded and there are numerous scuffs and scratches commensurate with age and use - -would benefit from a polish. There are some old filled scratches that are evident to the drawer fronts and the concave hinged compartments to either side of the writing surface. The leather writing surface itself is scuffed and worn. There are two inkwells missing from the drawer. Three brass keyhole escutcheons missing from the cabinet doors. The brass handles are OK, as are the castors. The legs seem to be structurally sound. The brass gallery around the top is OK.
